logo 2016 Platter's SA Wine Guide Our Wines...

At Restless River, we do things differently, and mostly by hand. Probably more like the way things were done before mass production. It takes a long time to make wine this way, so we can't produce more than a few thousand bottles. But this love and care results in special, somewhat rebellious wines that have their own distinctive personality and character, shaped each year by that particular vintage.

We are delighted by the recognition our wines have been receiving lately.

The range Cabernet

We grow cabernet sauvignon and chardonnay vines on the farm and focus on making our wines from these grapes only.

Cabernet Sauvignon
The enigmatic cab ranges from medium to full-bodied, depending on the growing season. It's aged four to five years before release, so it’s pretty much ready to drink, although being cab, further aging will be rewarded. The bold style expresses ripe, soft tannins and a rich fruit flavour that will develop further layers of complexity over time (and please allow the wine to breath for an hour or so before drinking). The wine pairs well with most foods but don't waste it on anything very spicy or drenched in olive oil. Try it with dark
chocolate sometime.

Chardonnay
The chardy is sophisticated and elegant. A delicate use of oak, combined with ripe fruit and a fresh acidity ensures a well balanced, exciting wine that will, like our cab, reward with a bit of aging. Served chilled, we enjoy the chardy with most foods, including cheeses. And it will go well with hot and spicy stuff too!
